Guest Reviews

We have had some wonderful feedback from guests:

"Dear Lauren, Thank you so much for having us. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The Cinnamon Stick is just perfect!!

You and your friends made us feel so welcome and nothing was too much trouble. We loved The Silver Room everything we needed. Our meal last night was amazing, and the breakfast this morning just as good. Your Husband is a wonderful cook. We will definitely be visiting again and will highly recommend to our friends and family.

Thank you once again for a lovely relaxing stay. Michelle and John"  MAY 2019

Property History

The building itself is a beautiful 16th century thatched pub with a large inglenook fireplace. It is a lovely village pub, part brick and painted white on two storeys.

The pub was formerly known as the Carpenters Arms (or The Carps) for many years, but it was initially called Fleur de Lys and was recorded by this name in 1774 (although the original building is probably much older than 1774).

B&B Rooms

  • The gold bedroom is in the old part of the building to the front and is part of a suite; a double room with a single room opposite it; both overlooking the car park and road. A bathroom is next to the single room and serves both the double and single room (perfect for 2 or 3 people travelling together). It is cosy with low ceilings and shows the historical side of the property. The bathroom has a bath with a shower over it.

  • The silver bedroom is in the newer part of the property and overlooks the rear garden; a double room with an en-suite (which has a large shower enclosure). It is spacious with high ceilings and no ducking required for those of us who are taller!

Our rooms are furnished to a high standard and the double rooms include:

  • Complimentary hospitality trays with various teas and coffee

  • Complimentary bottled water and biscuits

  • TV with Freeview
